Measure 101 would approve temporary assessments - a tax - on insurance companies, some hospitals and other providers of insurance and healthcare coverage to help cover healthcare for low-income families and children and people with disabilities.

|A year for resilience|
|2017 was no picnic in Sisters.|
We started the year half-frozen and buried under snowdrifts. Many local residents found winter intruding into their homes thanks to ice dams and leaks - and some of them struggled to get the damage repaired all the way into the following fall.

|Editorial - Release the Gorayeb report|
|The Sisters City Council must follow the order of Deschutes County District Attorney John Hummel and release the report on the investigation into the conduct of now-former city manager Andrew Gorayeb.
The council's concern for the confidentiality of statements made by employees is understandable and laudable. That concern does not, however, outweigh the public interest in understanding how it came to pass that the city manager resigned in the wake of an investigation that reportedly did not substantiate complaints of bullying and harassment.
