Outlaws capture baseball league title
The Outlaws captured the Sky-Em League title last week, and will play both La Pine and Blanchet Catholic next week to prepare for the upcoming playoffs. Sisters wrapped up league play with a 12-3 record, 21-3 overall.

The Sisters Outlaws girls track and field team won 11 of 17 events to defend its Sky-Em District title at Sutherlin High School last Thursday and Saturday - but it wasn't a cakewalk.

Sisters Stampede race seeks volunteers
The Sisters Stampede mountain bike race needs volunteers. From Thursday through Monday of Memorial Day weekend, the Stampede has positions for any level of involvement, from race day to post-race-day cleanup and restoration.

Sisters hosts thousands for lacrosse
They came from as far away as British Columbia, in helmets and pads and wielding netted sticks, to play a game created by the native peoples of North America. Sixty-nine teams from Idaho, Washington, California, Oregon and that squad from BC - ranging from youngsters in the third grade to high school athletes - participated last weekend in SALI, the Sisters Annual Lacrosse Invitational.

Softball in Sisters is on the rise
The Sisters Little League junior softball team is having a great season. After eight games the juniors have an 8-0 record, with their latest game resulting in a 14-4 win over Redmond. Other big wins this season include games versus Bend, Crook County, and Madras.

Outlaws golfers break 400 first time
The boys golf squad finally broke 400 at the Crook County Invitational held at Meadow Lakes Golf Course on Monday, May 1. The Outlaws' goal all season has been to break 400, and on Monday they met their goal with a team score of 398.

The Wally Ciochetti Invitational at Cottage Grove on Friday, May 5, gave the Outlaws track and field team one last chance to tune up before this week's two-day Sky-Em District Championships, scheduled Thursday and Saturday at Sutherlin High School.

Early season hiking in the Badlands
With all the snow we've had this past winter, it looks likely that the mountain trails are still several weeks away from opening up. So, the Badlands Wilderness east of Bend is a great place to get out and do some free-range roaming. The Oregon Badlands Wilderness is a fairly recent addition to our nation's wilderness areas and was officially established in 2009 by President Barack Obama.

Track athletes go faster, higher, farther
Big meets can produce big results, and Keegan Greaney appears to be proof of that. He faced a fast field of competitors at the Summit Invitational on Saturday and came away with the fastest time of his career for the 300 hurdles, coming within inches of a sub-40-second mark by finishing in 40.02 seconds.

His mark is a school record.
